The Lisa Eldridge Edit: Lip Gloss and Lip Pencils

I have been watching celebrity makeup artist Lisa Eldridge on YouTube for almost 11 years. I owe many of my first makeup experiences; and almost all of my initial love and exploration of the world of beauty to her. So a few years ago when she announced her first ever makeup launch - a line of lipsticks - words cannot begin to express how excited I was. Moreover, they were all red - and for an incorrigible, unapologetic, the brighter-the-better, red lipstick lover like myself, this was divine intervention, destiny, fate - Lisa had come full circle. The three glorious red lipsticks she introduced into the world did not disappoint and I now have three backups of all of them. She launched more formulas and more colors as time went on, all lipsticks, and then finally, last year, she dazzled the world with something brand new - lipgloss and lip pencils. And since we are on the eve of yet another new product category joining her coveted makeup line, I thought I would take this week to talk about her lipgloss and lip pencils. She will be adding new colors to this lip gloss line - available for pre-order on March 29th - so this is a particularly good time to showcase them. Read on!

The Glosses

This formula is deeply moisturizing - sometimes I feel like I am wearing a lip balm instead of a lip gloss when I have these on. But if the texture is like a lip balm, then it’s a very elegantly formulated, expensive-feeling lip balm. The texture is thick like a balm but somehow still silky like a gloss. It is a little tacky going on but somheow completely smooth and non-sticky after a few seconds. It lasts forever and leaves my lips utterly lush and plumped by the end of the day. If I had to identify something equivalent to this formula, I’d say it’s a cross between Tatcha’s Kissu Lip Mask and the bkr Paris Water Balm - for the well-versed in lip balm history. The pigment level varies across these glosses - some are more sheer than others. They feel nice and solid in my hand and the slightly large doe-foot applicator is perfect. I sometimes dab them on my cheeks when I am in the mood of a massive boost of dew on my face. Overall, if you are in the market for a perfect baby born of an expensive lip balm and a world class lipgloss, these are gold and I would not sleep on them because they sell out like nobody’s business on launch day.

The Pencils

Swatches

So that’s it - a short (but hopefully sweet) review of Lisa Eldridge’s lip gloss and lip pencils. I am excited to see what colors are coming in her launch this Saturday!
